      1960年代，Peter Yarrow 和 Lenny Lipton（兩位也是 《Puff, the magic Dragon》一書作者）共同撰寫一首同名的轟動經典兒歌。如今，兩人再度合作，以當年這首歌的意境轉為 一個精采的兒童繪本故事，並且重金邀請知名法國畫家Eric Puybaret 為此書操刀插畫。 《Puff, the Magic Dragon》一書的故事發生在一個名為哈納里（Honalee）的島嶼，這裡充滿了想像、接納和愛。在這個一個特別的神奇地方，小小讀者們能夠隨著小男孩Jackie，和他的孩子玩伴－一隻神奇的龍 Puff，一起在這個佈滿秋天的 薄霧的島嶼上展開一場航行的嬉戲冒險。 這是一本適合3-8歲小朋友閱讀的兒童繪本。它的故事不僅輕鬆且溫馨，繪畫風格也深具魔力。本書出版時，將會隨書附贈一片音樂CD，裡面收錄了四首以本書所做的歌曲，由本書作者Peter Yarrow和他的女兒Bethany一起演唱，在搭配美國大提琴演奏家Rufus Cappadocia的大提琴伴奏，悅耳活潑。 (From http://www.nurnberg.com.tw/321/child/09-122.htm)

“Puff”是一首講述小孩經歷長大後，童真隨之而去的一首童謠。

    作者取歌名為puff，又為小男孩取名Jackie Paper，正是用吹氣即消，白紙易染喻指童真的脆弱，Jackie之名正隱指狀況的普通性。歌中用大量的篇幅描繪Jackie和puff一起出行時的威猛：連王孫貴冑都要向他們彎腰行禮，海盜船也要退讓三分。這與男孩離開puff後，神龍的形單影孤，郁郁寡歡形成鮮明對比。反差如此之大。何故？歌中的神龍當是小男孩最喜歡的一件玩具，孩童了無羈絆的心靈為它插上了想像的神奇外衣。在想像的奇境中，他們縱橫馳騁，白紙被染上污跡，失去孩童可貴純真的同時，想像力也折斷了翼翅。(From http://tw.knowledge.yahoo.com/question/question?qid=1106081114000)

當帕夫咆哮著牠的威名

龍可以長生不死，小男孩卻沒辦法
用畫的翅膀和巨人的戒指
即使想盡辦法，找遍了各種玩具
一個灰濛濛的夜裡，事情終於發生了
傑奇佩柏再也沒有來了
帕夫這隻力大無比的龍
停止了牠肆無忌憚的怒吼

牠的頭哀傷的垂下來
綠色的鱗片像雨一樣的掉落下來
帕夫從此再也不去櫻桃小徑玩耍
失去了牠一生的朋友
帕夫再也勇敢不起來
於是，帕夫這隻力大無窮的龍憂傷的潛入牠的洞穴裡

心得:
    這首歌，印象中我在很小的時候就聽過了，不過那時一點都不曉得其中歌詞的含意，只覺得很輕快。因為我特別喜歡輕快的歌，所以對這首歌印象很深刻。有一天，不知道從那邊的廣播聽到，裡頭說Puff這首歌被Newsweek Magazine視為隱喻吸毒的歌曲而被禁播，大概是因為Puff有『吹噓』之意，所以被影射成抽大麻的感覺，呵呵，真是一個很有趣的比喻。

    背這首歌，真的很快樂，因為我很喜歡有故事感的作品，所以附上中文對照。最後，談到那個意含啊! 我想，在這種殘酷的社會現實中，一個真誠的赤子心是經不起考驗的，擺脫童貞，未嘗不是好事! 所以，Puff滾回你的洞穴吧! (哎..)
